Edge Controller - iPCR
Flexible networking, monitoring and automation
The Edge Controller iPCR connects devices and plants on site. Sensor data are processed decentrally on the iPCR. This enables diverse applications in automation, plant monitoring, load management and predictive maintenance via artificial intelligence. The common denominator is a freely programmable logic and algorithm with which individual solutions can be implemented on the iPCR - by deZem or the customer himself.
The Edge Controller communicates with the field level via a variety of protocols and hardware interfaces, e.g. with meters, actuators, PLCs, and control systems. Additional sensors are often added, e.g. wireless, waterproof temperature and vibration sensors, which are quickly installed and have extremely low energy consumption.
If required, the iPCR also transmits data in real-time, e.g. to the deZem data platform. Versatile dashboard for visualisation and control are available directly on the iPCR.
The iPCR is a compact, fanless industrial PC, of which various hardware models are available to cover the wide range of application scenarios - the software based on deZem OS is standardized. Regular software updates Over-The-Air (OTA) are the norm.

Why the deZem iPCR?
- Flexible application scenarios in control and monitoring
- Edge computing with freely programmable logic plus AI
- Dashboards on the iPCR
- Connection of sensors, actuators, meters, measurement devices etc. via various field buses and interfaces
- Reading hundreds of data sources with one iPCR
- Transferring data to other platforms via Ethernet, WLAN or mobile phone
- Over the Air (OTA) Updates
- Time resolution of the metered values up to 1 s
What our customers say
Our experiences with the iPCR from 5 years are consistently positive.
Recently, deZem was even able to help us with a tailor-made solution in a very short time to generate a control signal for our new CHP plant from the recorded values in order to produce the energy we need with pinpoint accuracy.

IoT Sensors for the iPCR
The great potential of the iPCR is usually tapped into by upgrading machines and plants with additional sensors. Suitable IoT sensors are wireless, small, waterproof and quick to install. They have a battery life of 10 to 15 years or are even energy self-sufficient.
Possible measurements:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Vibration
- Electricity
- Weather data
Data transmission in all directions
The iPCR reads and writes data on the following protocols:
- https
- MQTT
- Modbus TCP
- OPC UA
- Siemens S7
- BACnet
- Ethernet/IP
- COAP
- REST-API
- 1-wire

Application scenarios iPCR - some examples
Load Management
Automatic switching-on and switching-off of loads to avoid undesired peaks
Greenhouse control
Fully automated control taking into account local and external data, such as weather data.
Predictive maintenance
identifying discrepancies and anomalies at an early stage and rectifying problems before the plant fails.
Metering case for special solutions
Special applications for temporary and mobile use for practically any requirement with graphic display. Ideal for short-term automation and monitoring projects.
