As part of the Brandenburg state government’s “Green Care and Hospital” programme, a photovoltaic (PV) system with a capacity of 112 kWp has been installed on the hospital roof. The system generates more than 75,000 kWh of solar energy per year, which is used entirely within the hospital. This allows for a reduction of over 35 tonnes of CO2 annually.

To transparently monitor and analyse the efficiency and performance of the PV system, the deZem DataSuite is being used. The deZem energy management software provides an easy-to-read PV dashboard showing current electricity production as well as cumulative generation since the system’s commissioning. This transparency helps the hospital consistently communicate its sustainability goals to staff and patients.

The official inauguration was conducted by Ursula Nonnemacher, Brandenburg’s Minister of Health, together with the hospital’s management board, represented by Lutz Ausserfeld. In his speech, Ausserfeld emphasised that the Ludwigsfelde Hospital has been implementing systematic energy management since 2016. He highlighted: “Through our measures, we were able to reduce the CO2 emissions of the entire hospital group by more than 50 percent and cut energy consumption for heating by nearly 19 percent by 2023.”

This example clearly demonstrates the successes that can be achieved through targeted monitoring and optimisation in energy management - Sense, Check, Act works!

About deZem

Since 2003, deZem has been developing and supplying hardware and software to network and analyse sensor data from many heterogeneous sources - worldwide with projects in Europe, America and Asia. Originally started in the field of energy controlling, we have expanded our range of products and services over the years into a comprehensive system for IoT data management, from industrial analytics to plant and process monitoring to technical building management. Because the basic idea is the same: to create a scalable platform for collecting and analysing IoT data.
